Parties!

Mile High Blues exists to promote and advance Blues social dance, and to connect dancers with live music and musicians. It is the only event of its kind with live music at every dance. Each night’s theme features a different region known for Blues music with traditional decor, food and more! Dressing the part each night is fun, but not required.

Friday: New Orléans – Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler (Let the Good Times Roll)

So, you’re walkin’ down Bourbon Street with the sounds of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, the smell of fresh cooked beignets and sweet magnolia.  The bars are overflowing and the sidewalk hucksters are hustling for the strip shows; Mardi Gras is in full swing with beads flying and tank tops rising. A rousing night in “The Big Easy”. . . . with music to match!

Saturday: Chicago (Second City Speakeasy)

Joe’s Place is in the basement of a State Street brownstone.  You knock three times, a hatch slides open in the back alley door and a gruff voice asks, “Passwoid.”  You search the recesses of your mind for the password.  After a second’s hesitation and a particularly nasty throb where those thugs in ill-fitting monkey suits did a number on your temple, you remember, “Joe sent me.”  With a growl, the hatch snaps shut and the door opens.  As the smell of warm beer and cheap perfume mixes with the soulful Blues music from the band, you breath a sigh of relief.

You’re in.
